Friday is fish day

Since it’s Lent, I’ve got to do the no meat Fridays, and that means getting a little more inspired when making my lunch. This Friday was tuna sandwiches. I’ve never consulted a recipe book on how to make tuna salad. I pretty much do whatever I please, but I think my tuna salad’s probably pretty much the same as everyone else’s. It eats well.
Recipe’s in the notes. I realize this isn’t a very exciting recipe post.
I add quite a bit of black pepper and crushed red pepper which makes it spicy. It’s surprising for tuna. If you don’t like spicy, then so be it.

I bought this for my granddaughter so that she could go fishing with daddy. The set arrived quickly in perfect condition. My granddaughter practiced and practiced her casting and then did go fishing with daddy. Unfortunately she didn’t catch anything but the rod and reel are very cute, sturdy….perhaps the next time they go fishing she’ll get the “catch of the day.”

This fishing pole was a gift, the second Shakespear fishing pole we have purchased, one for our first granddaughter (which has caught many trout in Vermont) and now one for our second granddaughter. Although we have no history with this particular purchase, we have no reason to think that it will not perform as expected. Shakespeare fishing poles like these work just like the “big kids” poles, and we have been more than pleased with past experience.

so fun…ordered for a friend (who loves fishing) who recently had twin grandaughters. He loved the matching gifts and cant wait for the little ones to become his fishing buddies.

This is an adorable pole, and works well for little hands. However, there is a sticker on the back that says it contains lead. I would not have ordered this product if I had known!

I bought this Shakespeare Princess Spincast Combo Kit not knowing the DANGER it brings to anyone who handles it. I bought this Shakespeare Princess Spincast Combo Kit for my 5 year-old daughter. While we were practicing casting the reel jammed. Well with no luck I could not untangle the fishing line in the reel. So I went to find a phone number or warranty information on the Shakespeare Princess Spincast Combo Kit packaging. I did find an email for the warranty and I also found some WARNINGS. Yes in real fine print towards the bottom on the back of the Shakespeare Princess Spincast Combo Kit packaging. The warning reads like this, “Warning: This product contains a chemical known to the state of California of cause cancer and birth defects and other reproductive harm”. Then next to it printed on a sticker as if it was added later another WARNING. This WARNING read, “WARNING: CONTAINS LEAD. MAY BE HARMFULL IF EATEN OR CHEWED. MAY GENERATE DUST CONTAINING LEAD.”. I don’t know why Amazon.com does not show these warnings to the would be purchasers. Also why would Shakespeare 1897 sell such a dangerous toy? Why would they put such a small WARNING label on the packaging and another small WARNING label sticker next to it at the bottom in very fine print. It is simple, GREED! Why not sell them? It would be a huge profit loss not to. Just add a extra WARNING label, where nobody could see it. Shakespeare 1897, SHAME ON YOU!
tuna salad tastes really good with some relish. not the sweet kind. if you can’t find it, then cut up some pickles. also add a touch of mustard powder! yum.
I didn’t know there was a relish other than sweet. Learn something new every day!
KFC has fish snackers… they are sooo yummy… and only 99 cents!
Ah, Miracle Whip. The mystery substance that divides the masses.
yup! it’s just called relish. it’s harder to find than the sweet ones. i like it better cause i’m a big fan of pickles.
Calichef: Strangely enough, without even trying, I’ve mostly befriended pro-Miracle Whip folks. You either love it or hate it, I guess.
Chicky583: I didn’t know KFC had fish snackers! I’ll have to try it next Friday.
